African Queen Quilt

Everyone in Zuri has fallen in love with this quilt. Susie Northrop, owner of Main Street Quilts in Martinez, CA quilted it as a present for her friend and our guild president, Judi Wortham-Sauls.

  1. It really is a lovely quilt and inspires one to play with different fabric textures when making the dresses and headwraps.

  4. Absolutely love this quilt. I was never really clear on how to incorporate my african american female theme/story into a quilt. Seeing this example inspires me toward a goal. Thank you, thank you, so much. Great work!

  9. I am teaching a lady from Cameroon to sew. She is making totes and bags to sell for the Pygmies in Cameroon as her charity. This would be wonderful on her bags. We have a large African population in Portland, Me. and this would be so nice for her to do. Could you tell me where to get this pattern?

About Us

Our theme is: Black Women Piecing Together Our Past While Keeping Ourselves in Stitches.

If you love fabric and if you enjoy sharing ideas and quilting techniques with other quilters, then you should join us here at Zuri Quilting Guild.
Our meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month from 10am to 3pm at American Baptist College (in the rear) unless otherwise noted. Each meeting includes show and tell, door prizes, workshops, and lively discussions of issues relevant to the quilt world in general, and Zuri in particular. We bring our machines and spend the day piecing together fabric and our lives with stitches and laughter. We have members of all quilting levels. Come, share, learn, enjoy! If you are interested, send us an email at zuriquilters@gmail.com
